The main contacts of an air-conditioning contactor can carry a relatively large current, typically ranging from tens of amperes to hundreds of amperes. This enables it to meet the high-current requirements during the startup and operation of high-power loads such as air-conditioning compressors and fans, ensuring reliable circuit connection and disconnection.
It can frequently connect and disconnect the circuit, adapting to the frequent startup and shutdown operations of the air-conditioning system. With a long mechanical and electrical service life, it can withstand millions or even tens of millions of mechanical operations and hundreds of thousands to millions of electrical on-off cycles, reducing the probability of failures caused by frequent operations.
Equipped with specialized arc-extinguishing devices such as arc-extinguishing covers and arc-extinguishing grids, it can quickly extinguish the arc when the contacts are separated. This effectively protects the contacts from being ablated by the arc, extends the service life of the contactor, and also enhances the safety and stability of the circuit.
By controlling the energization and de-energization of the coil, it can precisely control the closing and opening of the contacts, achieving precise control of the air-conditioning circuit. Some air-conditioning contactors also feature overload protection, short-circuit protection, and under-voltage protection functions. When an abnormality occurs in the circuit, they can automatically cut off the circuit to protect the air-conditioning equipment and other electrical components.
